Life on the farm - the part you don't want to experience
Tried out a new piece of machinery... John Deere with four wheel drive... lovely thing to operate.
I only wish I could invoke the rule that the driver only drives and does not help with the loading. But, I guess humping the logs onto the forks, dodging the falling trees and being wary of the wildlife is all part of the fun (spiders big enough to carry you away I tell ya).
My buddy dropped some trees while I took the tops and threw on a brush pile. Normally all I hear is the chain saw ripping into the trees. Thought I could hear a high pitched buzz, much like a Motocross bike whipping along the road. Chainsaw stops and this buzzing sound got real loud. I look towards the sound and as my focus changes, I notice all these yellow jackets filling the airspace. I yell out to my buddy, he grabs the chainsaw and we both run for cover. Fortunately, these little divebombers decide to focus on the brush pile. Needless to say, I didn't stop for a picture of this afternoon of infamy.
Exit stage left and we refocus our efforts at the other end of the clearing. Now I know why the driver is not supposed to help load but stay in the cab... 8-)
P.S. Supplied picture approximates what I saw, only difference - there were a million of these suckers flying around
